Abstract

Has made the dosage of serum copper in 44 normal pregnant, pregnant in May that ended with abortion, on 7 July toxemic pregnant and nonpregnant women of reproductive age, using the spectrophotometric method and acetaldehyde as oxalyl dihydrazide and copper colors. Copper levels in our research on pregnancy N fluctuated between 81 and 314 ug%, having increased values prograsivamente during pregnancy up to the highest levels between the 34th and 36th week of gestation, and then decreases. These values were higher than those found in nonpregnant group of young people, whose numbers ranged from 60 to 103 ug%. In a small number of pregnancies that ended in abortion, copper figures were lower than in pregnancy N, and another small group of pre-eclámpitas somewhat higher than those of normal pregnancy values found. It is said about the importance of the determination of copper in the blood during pregnancy may have for the evaluation and prediction of feta-placental unit.
