Carotenoids are a group of plant pigments. Algae, higher plants and some bacteria are capable of synthesizing carotenoids, but animals depend on the carotenoids from the diet. In mammals have traditionally been considered important because some possess activity of provitamin A. However, carotenoids found in nature, about 50 or 60 have provitamin A activity.Downloads
