TRAUMATIC PERIPHERAL BIRTH INJURY. E. Rebagliati Martins Hospital (1981-1983)

A retrospective study of the incidence of birth trauma was in an apartment in the ERM Neonatal Hospital - IPSS, in a total of 8535 cases, corresponding to three years. They were grouped according to weight, type of delivery and type of trauma, relating these parameters together. Low, normal and macrosomic: in weight, 3 categories are considered. Birth rates considered were: normal delivery, caesarean section, breech and implemented. Broken collarbone, cephalohematoma, obstetric paralysis and other: peripheral injuries during childbirth been found 221 injuries (2.5%), which was studied included. It was found that the highest incidence of injuries occurred in the RN with vacuum and injuries were predominant cephalohematoma and broken collarbone, finding no statistically significant difference between them.
