Abstract

The medical world is aware that some pregnancy complications are followed by metabolic, endothelial, renal, and neoplastic diseases in both the mother and child. This is the case of preterm birth, where cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes mellitus and premature death must be considered, among others, when attending a premature delivery either spontaneous or indicated. The mother and her child should be informed on preventive measures consisting in follow-up with medical specialists on the mentioned chronic diseases.
