Abstract

he study of 159 cases of eclampsia presented at the Base Hospital Cayetano Heredia in Lima, in the space of ten years (1976-1985) was conducted, the incidence of 4.4% or births attended. In terms of age, 37% corresponded to the group of 15-19 years being primigravid those that had more (69%). Of the total of 149 births born to eclamptic mothers, 25 died (16.8%). The most common complication was postpartum anemia. 4 maternal deaths were recorded.
