Abstract

This is a post mortem study of 40 women died with eclampsia. The most affected organs were kidneys, liver and placenta. Hypophysis was altered in 42.5 per cent of the cases; these changes may produce Sheehan syndrome in women which recover the eclamptic convulsion. The most frequent cause of death was pulmonary edema and the intracerebral hemorrhage.
